Spirit lead me
This earth is groaning with expectation of the coming king. The ruler of this earth is consuming its resources at a catastrophic rate. Murder, scandal, abortion, pollution, and cruelty are more and more common and our empathy is waning. When we, as believers, look out at the landscape of worldly provisions that tell us they quench and satisfy our needs- do we believe their lie? Do we allow ourselves to be fooled into drinking deeply the lustful and idolatrous wine that never fully quenches our thirst? Or, like David, do we shift our view ever so slightly and say -O God! You are my God, I earnestly search for You! My very soul thirsts for you. My whole body-all that I am or will be- longs for You in this parched land where there is nothing that truly satisfies. The things of this world were never intended to satisfy our deepest needs. They exist to create a deeper need for Jesus. When you look at a sunset, it should fill you will wonder and awe of it's creator. When you love someone it gives us a glimpse into the vault of deep love God has for us. When we drink water and find ourselves thirsty again, we are reminded of the living water that will satisfy and never run dry. The whole earth speaks of the glory of the One who created us, calls us, longs for us to find refuge in and with Him. Do we agree with God about he state of this world? Do we agree with God about His provision? Are we willing to stand with David - with each other - and let our hearts cry out with surrender - You God! only You can satisfy and I will earnestly seek you above all.
